Its Official! Playstation Philippines is now here!

I think this should have been here years ago, the Philippines has been a loyal fan of the Playstation over the years and that is proven by the number of units of Playstaion. Its more popular before the Wii and the Xbox arrived. And also there is a large demand for PSPs here as the handheld console of choice . And when it comes to warranty, repair and other issues, there is no official office that would address these. But enough of the rants and now celebrate in the arrival of Playstation Philippines!

To formally launch this one they will have an event on March 27-28 at Glorietta. And here are some details regarding this one. There also a cosplay competition that would let you win a PS3! And you can also win even without a costume! just visit their site and sign up!

Sony Philippines, Inc. invites you to the first PlayStation® Event on March 27 and 28 at the Glorietta Activity Center. Enjoy the extensive display of the full PlayStation® line-up, try out the newest game offerings and watch the hottest bands perform onstage.

Cosplayers Spotted at the Chowking Orange Chicken Launch!

We have spotted cosplayers in the launch of Chowking's Chicken Orange at Bonifacio Global City! It was very unexpected to see cosplayers since I was in the group of bloggers. I should have brought my costume and joined them. But it was a very fun night for all as we all enjoyed a whole night of dancing of the Chicken Dance led by Jericho Rosales. This event was organized by Chowking for its 25th Anniversary this 2010! I also got rewarded when I did the chicken dance. They are also launching a contest for the best chicken dance with 11 contestants. Most of them cosplayers! Go ahead and vote for them and also learn to do the Chicken Dance!

Alodia!
Me and the cosplayers!
Dont stop! make it pop!
Put the speakers up!
Tonight I'mma fight
'till we get sunlight...
tic toc!
Oh oh woah oh woah oh!

Check out their videos here to vote for your favorite cosplayer/person doing the Chicken Dance!
You can also get to know more about the event on my other blog. Also you can visit their facebook account and become a fan!

3rd Philippine Cosplay Convention on March 27!

Your cosplay necessity wont be run dry this March as the 3rd Philippine Cosplay Convention will happen in Robinson's Place Manila on March 27, 2010. From the last TAGCOM on February, it will be held on the Robinson's Place Manila Midtown Atrium, so there is no entrance fee! Aside from the  Cosplay Events, there would be Auctions and other contest! Also at this time, school's out and will be attended by many students. Now, if you plan to join the cosplay events, here are the guidelines that one should follow:

The 3rd Philippine Cosplay Convention (PCC) Cosplay Guidelines

1.            The 3rd Philippine Cosplay Convention (PCC) is open to all event attendees.

2.            PCC is an OPEN CATEGORY event where participants could cosplay any character that they want, from any genre (whether it's from an anime, manga, games, comics, movies, western animation, visual kei, harajuku fashion, etc.) Original Characters are not qualified.

3.            PCC will be held on March 27, 2010. Both the INDIVIDUALand GROUP cosplay will be held on the same day.

4.            Interested cosplay participants may either pre-register online or register on the day of the event. For this year, we are limiting the number of participants to 150 Individual cosplayers and 10 Groups.

5.            Pre-registrants are required to confirm their pre-registrations on-site during the cosplay registration period. Pre-registering does not guarantee a slot in the official cosplay list.

6.            All registrants are required to submit a reference picture of the character that they’ll be cosplaying upon registration. Guidelines for submitting reference pictures are found below.

7.            After the registration, cosplayers are encouraged to stay at the Cosplayer’s Lounge. The PCC cosplay judges will be observing the participants prior to the actual contest.

8.            Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.

9.            Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that the Phil Cosplay Con is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.

10.         Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The PCC Organizers and the cosplay management team have the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.

11.         All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.

12.         PCC Organizers, Cosplay Management Team, and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.

13.         PCC organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.

14.         The PCC judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

15.         Registration and participation to the PCC cosplay constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to PCC organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.

16.         PCC Cosplay Guidelines are subject to change without prior notice.

4.        Individual cosplay participants are not qualified to join the Group Cosplay event even as a minor role or as a prop.

9.        All BGMs that will be used for the cosplay skit must be in audio format (.CDA) or in MP3 format and must be within the limit of their cosplay skit. Audio CDs must be properly labeled and submitted at the event itself upon registration. A cosplay group is required to have a sound director/representative who will assist the PCC technical team in the usage of their CDs. No BGM CD and/or no sound director means no registration.

Picture Reference Submission Guidelines

1.        Individual and group cosplayers are required to submit at leastone (1) printed picture of the character that they shall be cosplaying upon registration.

2.        All printed pictures must not go below 4 inches (10.16 centimeters) by 5 inches (12.17 centimeters).

3.        It is highly recommended to submit a full-body colored picture of the character that will be cosplayed. Black and white pictures will not be accepted.

4.        No picture means no registration.

Cosplay Tag (Individual Cosplay)

Instead of a normal catwalk, each individual will interact shortly with the person in front of him/her and the person behind him/her. It can be as simple as a wave, handshake, etc. or as complicated as a short fight scene. We encourage you to talk to the person who will proceed and follow you to plan out your moves. A good transition will score you extra points with the judges.

As this is a Individual Cosplay, human props or any on-stage assistance is not allowed. Personal Assistants are allowed but they must stay off-stage at all times. They can, however, assist the cosplayer with props beforehand or even assist them in getting onstage. Very young children are allowed the assistance of their parents onstage if needed, however.

To discuss about the event, Please visit 3rd PCC thread over at Filcosplay Forums.

Animax K-On! Cosplay Outing!

ANIMAX K-On! Cosplay Outing
March 13, 2010 (Saturday), Trinoma Mall

from the event page in facebook:
Get your cameras ready and be part of a casual outing with the cool K-On Cast cosplayed by Alodia & Ashley Gosiengfiao, Janeena Chan and Bea Araneta!

Photographers, cosplayers and those who would like to join our little adventure in the outskirts of the Metro are most welcome!

NO ENTRANCE FEE!

So what exactly is this event all about, you ask?

This is probably one of the more unconventional types of anime/cosplay gatherings. The K-On cast will be roaming around the mall along with photographers. The team can be having a photoshoot & picnic in the garden, having coffee at one of the shops or just plainly strolling and window shopping! It is a fun casual outing with our K-On friends with lotsa time for snapshots!

No entrance fee? What's the catch?

Yes there is NO entrance fee to be part of the team! There is also NO catch such as signing registration forms and such! But uploading the aftermath photos online (like FaceBook) and tagging the cast back will be greatly appreciated!

Also, Animax Asia's photographer will be on hand to take a set of pictures which will be uploaded to the Animax Asia Facebook page from 15 Mar. Simply go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Animax-Asia/194854365438 , be a fan of Animax Asia, and tag yourself on the photos you took with us. Don't forget to grab your very own limited edition K-ON! freebies from Animax!

But what if you are not an official photographer?

Official photographer or not, pros and rookies, SLRs & cellphone cam-owners and whatnot, everyone is welcome to be part of this one-of-a-kind event! Just look for the team and you're in!!

This event is brought to you by ANIMAX ASIA! So photographers can get a chance to have their shots featured on Animax TV! This means that your works will get a chance to be on-air over the whole of Southeast Asia (Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Korea) just by sending shots taken during this K-On event to ANIMAX!!

You can send event photos to animaxk.on@gmail.com

TAGCOM and our Cosplay Clan First General Eyeball!

Today was again the time for a convention for Toys & Hobbies Convention, and this time it was held at Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Atrium. That part of the mall is the newest extension and also the most widest, perfect for conducting events such as these. And with this event, of course there would be a lot of people that regularly stroll the mall would be able to see them and also pass by the shops and displays inside. The good thing about this event is the fact that its not enclosed inside a convention center and there is no entrance fee. Thus, everyone can get a chance to be part of the convention and also a higher chance of making profit for the stores there.

TAGCOM is a haven for toy and anime enthusiasts since there were merchandise for die cast, scaled models and other tools and accessories devoted for the craft. There was also a competition of the best in die cast and scaled models which I find very impressive. Pinoy craftsmen can now be proud to be great toymakers and scalers in the international scene. Every  detail has been carefully been made even with a meticulous eye. Of course, models from anime and American comic books also in demand with the crowd, there were also DVDs and accessories shop which makes it a one stop shop.

And of course, TAGCOM also smells cosplay for its two days. For this event, its also special to me since this will be the first grand eyeball of my cosplay clan, the Nosebleed Cosplay group which has more than 700 members and counting! However there were a hundred plus member who shoed up for the EB but it was very overwhelming since we almost dominated the TAGCOM event. We also had a tarpulin and even conquered the McDonalds store. There, we had the french fries festival, as in an overflowing of fries in a tray! But its not the food or the tarp that made our day, it was the new aquaintances and bonding that the guild had.

The guild had a memorable time of doing the thing we like best, cosplaying and since there were a lot of enthusiasts and photographers, the member had their time in striking a pose. So far, not all in the guild were wearing costumes, some are there to assist with the costumes and some are more of the anime fanatics that have prowess in drawing.  We are now looking forward to more cosplay events in the future especially Ozine fest in April.
