Eisenberg Adds Sinister Humor to Lex Luthor in "Batman v Superman"‏

Academy Award-nominee for his portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network,” Jesse Eisenberg plays one of the most fascinating anti-heroes in cinema – Lex Luthor, in Warner Bros. Pictures' new action-adventure “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Eisenberg infuses the character with a very sinister humor, one that arises from an illogical obsession with Superman.

“Lex Luthor has always been one of the great DC villains. And one of the most epic stories in the canon was when Batman and Superman squared off against each other,” offers producer Charles Roven. “As we sought an expansion of the universe with this film, we felt that bringing these characters together was natural.”

To carry Lex Luthor into 2016, Oscar-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio (“Argo”) recalls asking himself, “What would a capitalist gone mad look like today?” Looking for real-world inspiration from many of the world’s largest high-tech corporations, he found an environment that “often cultivates eccentricity as a virtue and rewards outside-the-box innovation.”

Here Comes Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman"‏

Rapidly emerging as one of Hollywood’s most engaging and sought-after talents, Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot (“Fast and the Furious” franchise) plays Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman in Warner Bros. Pictures' epic, action-adventure “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” She's starring opposite Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman.

“Once we had Batman in the story, all I could think was, ‘Is it crazy to bring Wonder Woman in, too?’” director Zack Snyder recalls. “For me, as a longtime fan, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are the comic book trinity, and I knew movie audiences have been dying for Wonder Woman. I thought it would be amazing to include her as a way to introduce the character into this world.”

Though the Amazon warrior’s appearance is brief, her timing is impeccable, and she definitely intrigues both Batman and Superman.

It was for the role of Wonder Woman that the filmmakers felt perhaps the greatest responsibility when it came to casting. “Wonder Woman had just turned 75 years old, and we really felt it was time for her to grace the big screen,” declares producer Deborah Snyder. “She is one of the most powerful female heroes that we have, she symbolizes so much strength and passion, and she is a role model for women of all ages.”

So, no pressure, right?

“We searched all over the world, we looked at hundreds of actors for the role,” she continues. “When we met Gal Gadot, it was unanimous among us that she was special, that she personified Wonder Woman. And as we got to know her and saw how she interacted with everyone, we knew that she was the right fit. Wonder Woman represents love and truth and sexual equality. Gal really embodies those characteristics.”

Gadot’s first day on set as the heroine had an impact on everyone, especially one very young visitor—the niece of a crew member who had drawn a picture for Wonder Woman. “This sweet little girl gave me a beautiful picture she had drawn for me,” Gadot recalls, “and people just started to cry. It was very moving and it proved how important the character is. For little girls who can be inspired to be strong, independent and sophisticated women when they grow up and for little boys who learn they must respect women, Wonder Woman represents a lot of good values, and moral strength, too.”

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Stars Kick-off Promo Tour in Beijing‏

Director Zack Snyder recently teamed up with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, bringing their new film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” to China's capital city, Beijing.

Speaking at the promotion event, Ben Affleck says it was "daunting" to play the iconic Batman in this superhero film.

"The biggest challenge going into was the sort of daunting aspect of playing a character who's got such a fixed place in people's minds already. You know people's expectations. I think that was the biggest challenge. I didn't get to create the character. I had to sort of recreate something and hope that it fit into people's, our idea of who Batman was already and hope that they would accept my nuances on it."

Zack Snyder Pits "Batman" Against "Superman" in "Dawn of Justice"‏

Certified fanboy and acclaimed director Zack Snyder pits the Dark Knight against the Man of Steel in a Super Hero face-off for the ages, in Warner Bros. Pictures' new epic, action-adventure, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The film stars Oscar winner Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent.

To Snyder, Batman versus Superman is the Holy Grail of Super Hero showdowns. But to do it justice means orchestrating the collision of not just these seminal characters but the worlds and mythologies that come with them into one sprawling cinematic universe.
