Pugad Baboy under consPIGgracy

Pugad Baboy is a one of a kind strip that hits social issues deep, I actually learned a lot from the series and the main reason I would read Libre and PDI, now its under fire after the "St. Scho" mention regarding (another hot topic), about Lesbians and girl relationships.

Well I would definitely say that it is very harsh to remove the strip series because of this issue. Pol Medina has made countless strips that actually show social woes and even politician flaws which so far did not cause outrage for the comics.

I also do consider if I were in the shoes of St. Scho people, which could stereotype the school, which I could not confirm ( but many somehow testify it does )since I did not study there (malamang kasi all girls dun teh), but if they do have, what have they done on their part on the formation of students? How do they handle homosexuality with their students.

Last, for the comics editor of PDI, if they reviewed the strip, he/they should have either first made the first critique if the strip could mean offense to the named party. Now with some raging about it, they quickly they made a decision to stop publishing the strips if in the first place they gave the go signal.

Now it opened a can of worms for PDI and St Scho, I read they even sent a letter to the newspaper. PDI also posted their statement. Pol Medina on the other hand has no worries because he has been known in the industry and has already published a lot of books and could actually move another publisher plus the issue could mean a surge of book demand.

In the end, it affirms my belief that Filipino comics can disturb the public into the awareness of social issues either left to be forgotten or many did not care at all.
