Team Philippines and Indonesia dominate the 32nd Southeast Asian Games - Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 'Male' and 'Female' Category

The Philippines and Indonesia clinched gold medals at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Male and Female categories. The MLBB esports competitions were held at NABA Theater, Nagaworld 2, Phnom Penh, from 10 - 14 May 2023.

Team Philippines edged Malaysia via sweep or 3:0 in a best-of-five (Bo5) series in the Male Category. The country's delegates were Angelo Kyle D. Arcangel, Michael Angelo E. Sayson, Marco Stephen B. Requitiano, David Charles L. Canon, Rowgien Stimpson N. Unigo, and Nowee C. Macasa. The team is led by coaches Francis "Ducky" Glindro and Vrendon Lin.

Team Philippines defends throne, claims gold at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 31st SEA Games

Team Philippines, also known as SIBOL Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team, retains its throne in the 31st SEA Games. SIBOL MLBB dismantled Team Indonesia in a best-of-five (BO5) series, ending the match with a 3-1 score. 

The SIBOL MLBB lineup is composed of veteran players from Blacklist International, namely Johnmar "PHI VILLALUNA" Villaluna as team captain, together with Danerie "PHI DEL ROSARIO" Del Rosario, Salic "Hadji" Imam, and Dexter "PHI ALABA" Alaba. Amateur players Kyle "PHI SOTO" Soto, Howard "PHI GONZALES" Gonzales, and Russel "PHI USI" Usi, who have never competed in any Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional Leagues or tournaments, were part of the winning roster.

According to Esports Charts, the 31st SEA Games MLBB tournament reached a new peak-concurrent viewership of 2.2 million with an average of 610,000 viewers.

In 2019, the Philippines and Indonesia were also the finalists during the 30th SEA Games Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with the Philippines hailed as the champions with a 3:2 match score.

The 31st SEA Games Mobile Legends: Bang Bang matches begin 18 May

The 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) commenced in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday, with 11 participating countries competing in 40 sports events since May 4. This week, fans and viewers will witness professional esports athletes in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in their quest to dominate the region.

The teams will be divided into two. Group A consists of the Philippines to be represented by Blacklist International, the group that took home the M3 World Championship title in 2021. Malaysia, Laos, and Myanmar also join the same cluster.

On the other hand, Group B consists of Indonesia, represented by athletes from MPL Indonesia powerhouses Onic Esports, RRQ Hoshi, and EVOS Legends. Vietnam and Singapore also fall under the same group.
