Animé Overload Festival!
Hello kids! Sorry for the hiatus, I was really busy and encountered a lot of problems lately which some are still not settled but I would try my best to keep you updated with the happening for the animé fans like me. As you know Animé Overload Festival was held on November 8, 2009 at the SMX Convention Center at Mall of Asia. It was the first AOF, but since it has the same feel of the animé convention. And since there is cosplay, I came in cosplay also! This time I made a costume of a different character, Viren of Rumble Fish 2 (probably try to google it to compare the resemblance). So far that is the only contest I have joined. However this was also the first time I made a stage performance, I was nervous ... but its my first time so no regrets.
I apologize for the poor resolution of the pictures since I did not have my camera but my phone only. I hope to do better in the next conventions. Given the chance and if I still have the budget for it. Overall, it was good since the venue is spacious and give cosplayers and photographers a good angle for shooting. And again anticipation for next year is now lingering!

Komiks Overload! A post-komikon special!
KOMIKS!
all the binded books...
and the indie books...
Well one more minor test to go and I think this is the best time to share the komiks that I have read.
Therefore I declare a COMIC REVIEW WEEK!
Maria
- EDSA ni Mel Casipit
- Baboy ni Mel Casipit
- Kapitan Tog 2 by Freely Abrigo
- Kulas by Freely Abrigo
- Amush by Anvil
- Best Things in Life Kubori Kikiam comic compilation ng Point Zero
- Go Beerkada rise of the Jologs by Lyndon Gregorio
- Where Bold Stars Go To Die by Gerry Alanguilan
Also from out of the shadows, Sir Julius Villanueva appeared to us LiP fans and had a little chat. And with those, it made my day...
So lets get it on with the first komik on review!
EDSA
by Randy Valiente and Mel Casipit

This comic is my favorite among the ones i bought from komikon 2009. I actually saw this one from the komikon summer fiesta but was unable to buy one. However this time I was able to get my hands on one and here is what I can say about it. Of course we know EDSA, not just the highway but also the event that happened that ousted the presidents of the country. The plot shows the same situation, poverty, corruption, power-struggle and the pursuit of hope. The protagonist is Piolo (nope, not the moviestar) which was part of the resistance. As turmoil rises among the presidency versus the opposition and other forces, Piolo also mad his move every night, which his wife doesn't know until one day. The statue of our lady of EDSA plays a special role in the plot, which surprized me. And at the end, you will encounter a very familiar scene, and what I felt was the quote "history repreats itself" lingering in my head.
