Two trumpos compete with each other in an exclusive sketch by Pixar Animation Studios’ resident modeler and rigger Mara MacMahon.
Way before the era of technology and gadgets, Filipino kids enjoyed a childhood of having fun in the streets and playing with traditional local toys such as the trumpo (Philippine top). Taking everyone on a nostalgic trip down memory lane, Pixar Animation Studios’ Mara MacMahon illustrates the trumpo in her latest sketch dedicated to Filipino fans.
The Pixar artist lends her talent to recreate Filipino childhood memories on paper as she draws two kids playing the trumpo in the streets. She also leaves a special message expressing gratitude, hoping to visit the country to try the native game with the locals.
Mara MacMahon is one of the many animators who worked to bring Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 to the big screen, serving as one of the character designers and riggers who developed the new look of the beloved porcelain doll character, Bo Peep.
Beginning her journey with Pixar Animation Studios in February 2016 as a character modeling and rigging artist on Cars 3 (2017), this was followed by a successful project in Pixar’s Academy Award-winning short Bao in 2018.
