Roblox’s Family Zone Helps Parents and Children Explore Together

A Fun, Interactive Way for Parents to Connect With Their Child’s Online World

Today we’re launching Family Zone, a game built by Roblox and developer MindTrust to teach parents and caregivers about the platform. Family Zone fosters co-play between children and their parents and facilitates conversations about digital safety in an entertaining way.

It’s designed to bridge the gap between generations, giving parents a fun, safe, and active way to co-play and bond with their kids in the digital world. In the game, parents and children play together to learn platform basics, like how to control an avatar in a 3D space and how to set and adjust parental controls. They can also learn about broader online safety topics, designed to boost digital literacy on sites beyond Roblox.

Roblox Introduces New Age-Based Accounts and Expanded Parental Controls for Users Under 16

Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts to provide age-based content access and communication defaults for younger users

Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX) today announced two new age-based accounts for younger users on Roblox: Roblox Kids for users ages 5 to 8 and Roblox Select for users ages 9 to 15*. When they roll out in early June, these accounts will more closely align content access, communication settings, and parental controls with a user’s age. They’re also establishing an ongoing selection process for games available to users under 16.

This is a continuation of the work Roblox began earlier this year, becoming the first online gaming platform to require facial age checks to access chat. Since then, over 50% of global and 65% of U.S. daily active users have completed an age check**.
