Fans Champion "Black Adam" Worldwide, Seen To Dominate PH Box-Office Through Long Weekend

DC universe’s fan-favorite antihero “Black Adam” electrified the global box office this weekend with a raging $140 million, becoming Dwayne Johnson’s biggest solo opening ever (outside the ensemble-led “Fast & Furious” franchise).

Bringing the superhero’s compelling origin story to the big screen for the first time, “Black Adam”  is the No. 1 film in nearly every market in 76 territories, including the Philippines, United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and France.  “Black Adam” also captured the No. 1 spot in the US with a $67 million debut.

In the Philippines, DC fans carried “Black Adam” to the top of the charts with a first-week gross of a badass P66.2-million, capturing a market share of 91%.  The film gave Warner Bros. Philippines its biggest opening this year and in the pandemic era, as well as its highest debut since 2019’s “Joker.”

Blacklist International reclaims their MPL Philippines Crown, becomes the first team to score three championship titles

In the grand finale between Blacklist International and ECHO PH, Blacklist International won 4-2 and edged out the competition to be the MPL-PH S10 Champions! They will take home the lion's share of USD 150,000, and a ticket to the M4 World Championships happening in Jakarta between 1 - 16 January. They will once again clash with ECHO in the legendary championship, that garnered a peak-concurrent viewership of 3.1m viewers in the last iteration according to analytics partner Esports Charts.

Johnson, who also produced the film via his Seven Bucks banner, has tackled roles in almost every genre, and stepping into a super suit was always something he considered.

“Black Adam actually came onto my radar when I was really young,” Johnson relates. “I loved comic books and I was always a DC kid. I gravitated towards Black Adam because he was one of the very few of the superheroes, supervillains, antiheroes—however you want to categorize him—who had brown skin and looked like me. Plus, he was always a badass,” he grins. And while the road to the big screen was long—more than ten years, in fact—Johnson’s connection to the character and his story remained strong. “Black Adam is something that has been a part of my DNA and my soul for many, many years.”

ByteDance's MOONTON Games sued Tencent for commercial slander, and received 220,000 yuan in compensation in the final trial

MOONTON Games sued Tencent, as the company had fabricated and spread false information that was inconsistent with the facts and hindered the cooperation between the plaintiff and relevant partners. This behavior caused serious damage to MOONTON Game's business reputation and should bear legal responsibility.

According to the China Judgment Documents Network, the case of MOONTON Games suing Tencent for commercial defamation disputes has recently been finalized. The Shanghai Intellectual Property Court found that Tencent constituted commercial slander, and ordered it to compensate the plaintiff MOONTON Games for economic losses and reasonable expenses totaling 220,000 yuan, and to clarify the commercial slander involved in the case in writing.

MOONTON Games was established in 2014 and has achieved remarkable results in the Southeast Asian game market. Its "Endless Showdown / Mobile Legends: Bang Bang" launched in June 2016 surpassed Tencent's "Honor of Kings" in the Southeast Asian MOBA ( multiplayer online tactical competitive game) market and became the dominant player in many countries and regions. As of June this year, the monthly active users of "Endless Showdown" exceeded 100 million. In March 2021, MOONTON Games was acquired by ByteDance’s game arm Nuverse.

MPL Philippines has launched the voting rules and eligibility guidelines for the MPL-PH Season 10 Grand Final MVP, Regular Season MVP, Team of the Season, Rookie of the Season, and Best Talents.

The Season 10 awards are held in recognition of the outstanding performances and talents of the teams, players, and casters, and to highlight the significance of the season's message Lakas Na10 To, which includes the community's involvement in the celebration. The categories are:

Burn X Team Flash makes historic win at MPL Cambodia Autumn Split 2022

Burn X Team Flash emerged triumphant as the winners of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League - Cambodia (KH) Autumn Split 2022. Held at Aeon Mall Sen Sok, the competition concluded with Burn X Team Flash triumphing over Logic Esports and snatching up the crown in a best-of-five (BO5) series, and winning the lion's share of USD 40,000.

The MPL Cambodia Autumn Split Grand Finals day recorded the league's highest offline audience count of up to 2,000. Fans and curious onlookers were watching the matches outside of the arena, which was livestreamed on AEON Mall's LED screens.

The historic grand finals also drew peak concurrent views (PCU) of up to 110,040, according to analytical partner Esports Charts.

MPL Philippines bares 10 Legends nominations mechanics

MPL Philippines officially announces the mechanics to nominate 10 legendary players of all time to be inducted into the inaugural MPL Philippines Hall of Legends. The program aims to commemorate MPL-PH athletes who have made considerable contributions to the league, as part of its 10th-season celebration.

Votes from the community or fans, active athletes, coaches, team owners, talents, MOONTON Games, and media partners will make up the list of legendary players. Active or retired MPL-PH pro players from seasons 1 to 10 are eligible for the nominations, including those who are playing in the current season.

The M4 World Championship will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M4) will be held in Jakarta, between 1 - 15 January 2023. There will be 16 international teams vying for the prestigious championship title and a lion's share of USD 800,000.

Indonesia's esports landscape has grown exponentially over the last few years. The local Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL Indonesia) hit a peak-concurrent viewership of 2.8 million during Season 9 and was the first esports league to implement the franchise system in the country, with the highest local prize pool of USD 300,000.
