“The Flash” wins the global box office race with $139-M, opens at No. 1 in PH

Eager to see the first standalone movie about the DCEU’s fastest man alive, moviegoers from all over the world flocked to theaters to watch “The Flash” on its opening weekend, leading to a huge US$ 139-million global box office take. 

In the Philippines, the film debuted at No.1 with a smash P45-million gross on its five-day opening weekend June 14 - 18, which marks Warner Bros.’ biggest opening for 2023, after another superhero blockbuster, “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” last March.

“The Flash,” starring Ezra Miller as the titular superhero, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Michael Keaton as Batman, has scored well with audiences, and it currently holds an 85% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fans Champion "Black Adam" Worldwide, Seen To Dominate PH Box-Office Through Long Weekend

DC universe’s fan-favorite antihero “Black Adam” electrified the global box office this weekend with a raging $140 million, becoming Dwayne Johnson’s biggest solo opening ever (outside the ensemble-led “Fast & Furious” franchise).

Bringing the superhero’s compelling origin story to the big screen for the first time, “Black Adam”  is the No. 1 film in nearly every market in 76 territories, including the Philippines, United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and France.  “Black Adam” also captured the No. 1 spot in the US with a $67 million debut.

In the Philippines, DC fans carried “Black Adam” to the top of the charts with a first-week gross of a badass P66.2-million, capturing a market share of 91%.  The film gave Warner Bros. Philippines its biggest opening this year and in the pandemic era, as well as its highest debut since 2019’s “Joker.”

"Wonder Woman" Overtakes "Batman v Superman" as Biggest WB Movie in PH

It’s official: An Amazonian princess has bested both the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight at the Philippine box office.

As of last Saturday, July 1, the P520.5-million cumulative box-office gross of Wonder Woman has overtaken the lifetime gross of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to become the biggest Warner Bros. Movie of All-Time. This was announced today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

Pictures’ action adventure “Suicide Squad” flew past half a billion dollars after 13 days in theaters around the globe, with a cumulative total of $509 million and counting.  Having set records in its first two weeks in release, the film will help drive the overall August box office to a record high. With a U.S. total of $135.1 million for the weekend, the movie broke several records for the month of August, including: the largest opening weekend; the largest pre/midnight show with $20.5 million, which includes the largest-ever IMAX pre-shows at $2.3 million; and the largest Friday (over $65.2 million), Saturday ($38.8 million) and Sunday (over $31 million).
