It’s a brand new record for Sony Pictures as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” marks the biggest opening weekend for the studio, generating 587-M PHP

Records have been broken as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” web-slings itself to the biggest post-pandemic opening weekend in the Philippines.

The highly anticipated superhero adventure accumulated 586.9 million PHP during its first 5 days of release July 29 to August 1 on over 700 screens, also claiming the title of the biggest Spider-Man movie and 3rd biggest opening weekend in the Philippines, trailing “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

This was announced today by Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc., distributor of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” dominated the social climate of the Philippines over the weekend, with Filipinos packing cinemas in sold out screenings. Cosplayers turned up in droves, delighting cinemagoers, while mall facades lit up in Spider-Man’s iconic red and blue colors, especially as August 1 is celebrated as Spider-Man Day.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now showing in Philippine theaters nationwide, including ScreenX, 3D/4DX, and other specialty formats.

It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.
