"Captain America: Civil War" Posts Biggest Opening Weekend Ever with P362-M‏

Box-office records fell as Marvel's “Captain America: Civil War” opened to a historic P362-million in its first five days nationwide, capturing the crown for the Biggest Opening Weekend of All-Time (surpassing the P339.8-M of Marvel's “Avengers: Age of Ultron” last year).

This was announced today by a spokesman of Walt Disney Studios which distributed the film through Columbia Pictures.

Arriving in 623 screens, the battle royale between Team Cap and Team Iron Man was met with unanimously positive reactions from fans and movie critics. They singled out the film's alternating serious and light tone, compelling story, well-defined characters who each gets to shine, and successful introductions of Black Panther and the new Spider-Man into the Avengers assembly.

This Week's Cover: The good fight goes bad in Captain America: Civil War

by Anthony Breznican

They’ve quarreled a lot in the past, but this dispute is far from “Who picks up the lunch tab at the shawarma place?”

This time, Captain America and Iron Man are battling over who has power over the superpowered.

In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, we take you behind the scenes of the airport clash between two landmark heroes in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: Civil War, as the forces aligned with Chris Evans’s red, white, and blue supersoldier turn against those allied with Robert Downey Jr.’s armor-plated genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist.

Cap stands for independence from anyone’s control and following your own sense of right and wrong, while Iron Man, regretful over the chaos he unleashed in Avengers: Age of Ultron, supports with the governments trying to impose control over those who say they only mean well.
