This year of Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), I was able to attend because schedule now permitted me to experience this again. And it has become a tradition to start my haul with Filbar's in Megamall which has made it a monumental day for the store as comics fans are increasing every year.
Filbar's has a great system in organizing the long line of fans waiting to get their favorite comic books. And like we have featured back then, their Flashpass system still works to avoid over-saturation of people waiting for to get inside the store. Filbar's also provide space for comic artists who can do commission work and sometimes has a feature artists on board. This year they had Pugad Baboy creator Pol Medina who just launched his 30th anniversary of the Pugad Baboy Series.
Also on the featured in FCBD 2018 is iKwento Komiks App which is a new application aimed for Pinoy Komik fans and creators. It makes a digital platform for Filipino comics made accessible for all. Made by Synergy88, the app is still in beta test and is calling for more komiks creators to join and publish their works (I am also thinking of submitting my works as well).
As I took a look at the app, it is simple to navigate, though there is still a limited array of comics uploaded, I am looking forward for more titles to be uploaded. The best thing about it is the free access, which might be open to ads or other promotions in the future, and it's a great idea to get more fans to get hooked to it.
This innovations provide an evolution of the comics industry here and it is time to continue to grow the community to more people which will definitely bring a new era for artists and fans alike.
iKwento App is currently available at Google Play and soon on the App Store for iOS.
